Health is a specific term that conjures thoughts of disease at worst or peak fitness at best. In between, however, are numerous attributes that are only recently beginning to get credit for keeping us functioning at our happiest and healthiest levels.
Researchers from studies like The Blue Zones have examined populations from places on earth where people have lived the longest and the healthiest, and, from there, have developed a “template” for better living. Within this new context, we find increased importance on sociability– including time with friends, family, or associations with a membership base, like church. Other important areas include “purpose” such as work or volunteering, spirituality, whether with a God or some other higher power, and of course the basics of good nutrition and movement.
Spend time on your own plan for building a quality life; one that will extend your years but also allow you to live them well. If this doesn’t hit your radar, what possibly does?
