What is Menopause To Me?

What is menopause to you? You’ve heard the term. You know it has something to do with midlife. But what is it really? Is it that terrible? What are the symptoms of menopause and how will it affect you and the women in your life?

Are you ready for the challenges of menopause?

Women, of course, have a superpower—the ability to bring new life into the world. Menopause is the dark side of that superpower. As women age, they lose the ability to give birth and their bodies change in some challenging ways. Menopause symptoms such as hot flushes/hot flashes/night sweats, insomnia, weight gain, and even vaginal atrophy can occur. Medically, menopause is often defined as when a woman has not had a period for a year, which usually happens between age 45 and 55.

However, the body usually begins transitioning into menopause gradually—a period known as perimenopause—as early as the mid-30s.
