What you need to know

b-untethered Adventure Trips

Who are these trips for?

b-untethered trips are designed for women typically in their 40s to 70s who want adventure, connection, and meaningful travel. You don’t need to be an athlete—just open to trying new things.

What fitness level do I need?
Each trip is clearly labeled (treat, test, challenge – or Level 1, 2, 3 with 3 being most challenging).
Level 1 Trips (Treat Yourself):
These trips include movement without (too much) suffering. Think moderately strenuous hikes in the company of other women and plenty of pauses that are are definitely for the view (and not at all because we’re winded).
Level 2 Trips (Test Yourself):
are real hikes, real elevation, and may include at least one moment where you renegotiate your life choices mid-trail. You don’t need to be in peak condition—but you should be ready to sweat, swear a little, and then feel wildly accomplished about it.
Level 3 Trips (Challenge  Yourself):
This is where things get gloriously unhinged—in the best way. Big climbs, long days, and the kind of effort that strips life down to water, willpower, and “just one more step.” It’s tough, it’s transformative, and yes, at some point you will wonder who talked you into this (it was you).

What if I’m traveling alone?

Perfect—you’ll be in good company. Most of our guests come solo. We create a welcoming group dynamic so you’ll feel comfortable from day one. Plus, we hold “get to know each other” training calls 12-16 weeks prior to the trip, so you will know your traveling companions before you even get off the plane!

How big are the groups?

We keep groups small (usually 8–14 women) to ensure a more personal, supportive experience.

What types of activities are included?

Trips may include hiking, kayaking, ice cave repelling, swimming, biking, cultural excursions, wildlife experiences, or wellness activities like yoga. Each itinerary is designed uniquely to the destination you are visiting.

Do I need prior experience for activities?

Not usually. Most adventures are beginner-friendly, and guides provide instruction and support along the way. If we are undertaking something that we believe most people have not experienced, such as climbing to 19k feet of elevation on Mount Kilimanjaro, we will provide education on things you can do ahead of time, to assure you are prepared to the best of our ability.

What accommodations can I expect?

We typically stay in clean, secure facilities. Some are considered luxury while others are more minimalist due to the environment.

What’s included in the trip price?

Please see the “What is Included” tab on the landing page for your trip for details.

Usually covered:

  • Accommodations
  • Most meals
  • Local guides and instructors
  • Activities listed in the itinerary
  • In-country transportation

Flights, travel insurance, some meals and tips for local guides are typically not included.

Is it safe?

Safety is a top priority. We work with vetted local partners, experienced guides, and carefully planned itineraries. That said, adventure travel always involves some level of risk, which we communicate clearly.

Can I have my own room?

Yes, single rooms are often available for an additional fee. Most trips will pair travelers unless you request otherwise.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

We do our best to accommodate common dietary needs (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.). Let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes—travel insurance and, in some cases, med-evac insurance is strongly recommended (and sometimes required). It protects you in case of cancellations, medical issues, or trip interruptions.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

Please see details on your trip landing page for payments and refund policy.

How far in advance should I book?

Popular trips fill quickly, often several months in advance. Booking early gives you the best chance of securing your spot plus in some cases allows for an early bird discount.

Will I have free time?

Depends on the trip. Some trips are back-to-back hikes with little turnaround time in the evenings before leaving again the next morning. We will advise you of this prior to the trip

What should I pack?

We provide a detailed packing list for each trip and will review this on our training calls. Generally, think comfortable activewear, layers, good shoes, and a sense of adventure.

What if I’m nervous or unsure?

That’s completely normal. Many women join feeling the same way—and leave with new confidence, friendships, and unforgettable memories.

How do I get to the destination?

You’ll receive detailed arrival instructions, including the recommended airport and transfer options. We often help coordinate group arrivals when possible.

Are there age limits?

There are no strict age limits—only activity-based requirements. If you’re healthy and active enough for the itinerary, you’re welcome.

What makes this different from a regular tour?

This isn’t passive sightseeing. It’s about active participation, personal growth, and shared experience with like-minded women in a supportive environment.
